Biography

Dr. Christopher Michel is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of spinal disorders. He is looking forward to providing expert spine care to patients across Western Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. His clinical expertise includes degenerative spine disease, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spinal deformity, trauma, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Michel earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health – Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in complex spine surgery at William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

A respected academic and researcher, Dr. Michel has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of orthopedic spine surgery. He has presented at national spine and orthopedic conferences and received multiple research awards and honors, including recognition from the Cervical Spine Research Society.

Dr. Michel is an active member of leading professional societies, including the North American Spine Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is fluent in English and conversational in Spanish, allowing him to serve a diverse patient population.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Michel enjoys fishing, surfing, and following Philadelphia sports. He is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based spine care that helps patients throughout the region return to the activities they love.
